What is PA Precious Metals?

PA Precious Metals is a web-based software application offering a database of precious metals transactions in Pennsylvania.  It aids in compliance with PA Act 1984-17, and offers an editable, searchable history of each transaction made by licensed precious metals vendors.

Who can use PA Precious Metals?

PA Precious Metals is available to law enforcement officers, licensed precious metals vendors, and insurance agencies.  Victims of theft soon to come.

How do I get a PA Precious Metals account?

To sign up for a PA Precious Metals, account, contact your local sheriff’s office.  If you have been victimized, please contact the Administrator for assiatnce in recovery of your lost or stolen property.

What do I do if I need more licenses?

Each vendor purchase comes with the ability to add an associate licenses.  Each user interacting with the application will require his/her own unique login credentials.  If you need access to additional licenses, contact us at: This email address is being protected from spambots. Are there any software requirements?

Our web-based application is a cross-platform service, operable on all common web browsers.

Can I upload more than 1 transaction at a time?

The licensee should upload no more than 4-6 like items of like material per photograph.  Items should not touch one another in the photograph. The Proof of Identification (ID)  image must be added separate from the precious metals image.  Failure to do so can lead to suspension of use of the web portal.

How many days must I keep the items before I can move merchandise?

PA State law requires a minimum of 5 days hold time once the transaction has been forwarded / uploaded to designated Law Enforcemnt Entity.  However, local ordinance may require a longer hold period.  Check with your local ordinance for specific hold times.

What Pennsylvania Counties are required to upload transactions to the www.papreciousmetals.com website?

Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland.  Other Western PA Counties are currently seeking the use of  the website.

Can I use a drivers license scanner with the program?

No.  However, this feature wil be added late 2016.  A list of compatible DL Scanners will be made available through this website.

Can I make changes to a transaction once it has been uploaded into the webportal?   

No.  Only the Program Administrator can do this.  You should print out the receipt and document the change on the receipt.  Email a copy of the receipt to info@papreciousmetals.com
